Gayle's Drawing Concepts

This was one of my favorite classes at Art Center so far.  The only down side was that I tried to balance out all my classes as evenly as possible this term.  I wish I could have spent more time in this class, but I learned a tremendous amount none the less.  Thank you, Gayle!

The assignments were: take an artist from a list she gave us and do a master copy of any of their works (mostly drawing based works).  Then do two emulations based on what we learned.  There were 15 artists in total in the final book.  Here are some of the works (Sorry, some of the graphite scans and color scans came out not so good):

Sketching for Illustration - Crime Scene

This is an illustration of a crime scene without any figures.  The crime (underaged smoking) was set up to be a slow read.

Sketching for Illustration - Shirts

These charcoal drawings were from observation with one single light source.
Studying the way the light hits the form while editing out the shadows.

First entry!

Trying to figure out how this blogger thing works...

This was a 3 hour workshop painting.  I made scratches on it on photoshop since the scanner scanned it so badly.
